That’s the number of people killed so far when a Bangladesh garment-factory building collapsed on April 24, 2013. The factories supplied cheap clothing to retailers in Europe and the U.S., including J.C. Penney and Joe Fresh. You can read more about the disaster here.

The next time you shop and are tempted by clothes made in a garment factory like this one, remember that you have a choice. By choosing clothing that is ethically made, you are promoting equality and helping change labor laws for abused factory workers everywhere.
