I must be crazy: I made my own wedding dress

A few weeks ago, I married my partner of six years in sunny Santa Cruz, California on the meadow by our house. Despite the excessive planning and intense organization that is required for a DIY wedding, we managed to pull off an incredible night with the help of our family and friends.

A month before the wedding, I decided to make my own wedding (see photos below). It wasn’t easy, and it involved many sleepless nights and mulling over details, but somehow it all came together.

You can read about how and why I made my own wedding dress (and the “joys” that come with doing that) here.

The Character’s Dress featured in Santa Cruz Fashion Week

Santa Cruz Fashion Week is in full effect and killing it with fall looks from Cameron Marks (the store just got a bunch of Lauren Moffatt fall 2012 items in – Go!), Stripe (Santa Cruz’s apple of my eye), Wallflower (stocked with cute, original outfits at great prices), Synergy (comfy knits that transfer from the yoga studio to the street), and Tomboy (adore – they always have new awesome western inspired pieces at affordable prices). The outfits, styled by Missy Schnaps, are all perfect for fall while still being real life “wearable”.

I’m happy to say The Character’s Dress made it as one of the two looks for Stripe! Take a look at the beautiful photos by Nick Chao and check out the full post HERE.
